The Challenge

The Deck Guy came to Digital Attraction with no website, no digital footprint, no Google presence, no domain authority. Just a freshly registered business name and a deep capability in decking work — quality decks, properly built, in a competitive Melbourne trades market saturated with established competitors and well-funded franchise operators.

The brief was simple to describe and difficult to deliver. Build a digital presence from scratch that could compete with businesses that had been running for ten or fifteen years. Generate qualified leads — people actively looking to book decking work — entirely from organic search, without spending a cent on paid advertising. And do it in a category where most established competitors had spent years optimising for the same keywords.

Most agencies would either decline the brief or quietly pivot it to a paid-ads-driven approach. We took it as designed.

The Solution

The strategy was built around three sequenced phases.

Phase 1 — Foundations. Phase 3 — Content and authority. Targeted content built around the specific search terms decking customers actually use. Local SEO and Google Business Profile optimisation. Slow, deliberate authority building over months. The plan was always going to take time — meaningful results in nine to twelve months, dominant performance by year two. Then we delivered exactly that.
